New levels of reality for TamagotchiMay 02, 2007
By Xeokym

I have been collecting Tamagotchis since the first wave original one I got in 1996, and I've had Tamagotchi Angel, Ocean, Forest, Mini, and all the versions of Tamagotchi Connection. These latest ones (v.4) have corrected some of the more annoying problems of the older versions, namely being overly-needy and pooping too much, and are much more fun to take care of since they're not getting sick every half hour just because you didn't clean up a poop. The main thing, though, that makes these so much fun is the ability to go online, "log in" to Tama Town, and get codes that gives your virtual pet items, food and things to do. Make sure you make use of going online while you can...once the version becomes defunct, it won't be supported online anymore.
While you can get away easily without having tama-friends to communicate with, you will probably want to have 2 (if you lack friends who likewise own Tamagotchis). The v.4 can communicate with all past versions of Tamagotchi Connection, but is most interactive with its own kind. While giving each other presents and visiting is cute, the real fun is when they fall in love and have offspring together. Each mate gets a baby, and the baby is taken care of by the parent until it grows a bit, at which time the parent "leaves" (or dies) and the baby is your new tama. I always make sure I start off with a girl and a boy so they fall for each other. But if you haven't got a mate to communicate with, your tama can still have a baby, as (when the right time comes) a matchmaker will come along and provide a mate for your tama and you can accept or decline.
One complaint is, why are these things STILL in black and white!? By now color LCDs are pretty standard fare, and 10 years after the original Tamagotchi debuted, you'd think by NOW they'd manage to make them in color. Another complaint I have is that the battery they come with are pretty short-lived. In the old tamagotchis they came with 2 L44's which could literally last for 3 or more years! These new batteries are flat and about the size of a quarter, and I have yet to have one last for a full year! Usually they die out after a few months, or even less, and the LCD nearly fades away when using the connection mode. Apparently connecting with another unit saps a lot of its energy, and if the battery is already low on juice, it may just make the tamagotchi have an error and reset. This isn't too big of a deal as you can "download" your past pet, so you don't lose all the data, but still it's highly annoying.
At any rate, Tamagotchis are still as fun as ever, and there are plenty of new characters as well as secret items and other things to uncover, so they'll keep you endlessly busy. You can even put the unit on pause (hold down A and push B). I have always loved the translucent colors and this is probably my favorite one.

Awesome!Jul 07, 2007
By Mossman I am supervising my 10 year old daughter in writing her review below.
This toy is awesome!!! It teaches you how to take care of a pet. It is very durable. I have dropped it many times and it still is fine.
You take care of a pet and here is how it works. First the scale tells you if your pet is hungry, if its happy, training, skill points, age, weight, name, gender, generation, points and user name. With the chef you can feed it meals or snacks. With the toilet you clean up its poo. With the baseball and bat you can play games, play with items, shop, put in passwords, and see sovineers. With the heart you can go to Pre-K, School, or Work, connect with other tamas, and go on tamatown. With the voice icon you can praise or scold your pet. Next on them medicine bag you give it medicine. On the envelope you can check your mail. Finally on the news paper you can wrap presents, check your friends, check your history and parents, and donate points to the king. And the faces light up when it needs attention.
This is very fun!!!! But DO NOT bring it to school! Instead leave it at home paused( hold down A and B).
Hope this helped!
Fun for a littleAug 22, 2010
By Kitkat It is the funnest, cutest thing... for about 10 days. I grew attached to my grown upTamagotchi (a Kuchipachi to be exact), but then he had a baby and left me, and i abandoned the toy. Then again I am 18 years old.

My TamagotchiMay 21, 2007
This is an opinion of a nine year old. This toy is OK. It falls apart easily. When it was dropped the ball fell off. The chain fell off after awhile. Playing with it is fun. You can also go onto the computer and play games. Its frustrating to wait until it becomes an "adult" (where you can get a job) and do more fun things. The passwords are hard and complex to remember. if you wait too long the password screen clears, then you need a new password. The games on the tamagotchi itself are fun. [...]
